This workshop is for socially and politically engaged individuals who are who are struggling to hold the too-muchness of our current political and cultural climate. It’s also for the compassionate-hearted among us — those who have, out of necessity, disconnected from their center as a way to self-preserve amongst the overwhelm of every day.
In this 2-hour experience, systemic change becomes personal, as we explore how the individual is not and cannot be separate from the collective. Each of us is a system within a system — and the transformation of THE system begins with transformation within our systems. Through the practice of Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®), we initiate this powerful micro-level change.
TRE® is a gentle yet effective self-care technique that directly engages the nervous system to release chronic stress, deep muscular tension, and various forms of trauma.
We’ll begin with an introduction to TRE® through its political origins and an overview of the nervous system — specifically how our physiological responses impact our communication, our actions, and our ability to stay grounded in times of stress. Then, through a series of guided exercises, we’ll activate your body’s innate capacity to release built-up tension—often stored over a lifetime of fight, flight, or freeze responses.
Workshop takes place over Zoom. No recording is made or shared so real-time attendance is required. Offered on a sliding scale. $47 recommended exchange. NOTAFLOF.
