Why people train in TRE®

There are two reasons people train in TRE™: to guide this work for others, or to understand it properly in their own body. This free hour covers both. We’ll walk through what TRE™ certification involves, how the two paths differ, and what each one asks of you — then answer whatever questions you bring.

A TRE training session in progress

What we’ll cover

1What a TRE™ provider actually does — and what certification qualifies you for
2What the training involves, module by module
3The two ways to take it — full certification, or Module 1 on its own
4How mentorship and supervised practice work
5Whether the October cohort fits you — and how to tell
6Your questions, answered live

Two paths,

one training

Path one

Full certification

Three live modules on Zoom — 36 hours of classroom time — plus 13 one-to-one supervision and mentorship touchpoints. You graduate a Neurogenic Integration Certified TRE™ Provider, with lifetime access to the video library and a full year of NI Membership. No prior experience required.

Path two

Module 1 on its own

Module 1, Foundational Knowledge, stands on its own: the science of neurogenic tremoring, nervous-system regulation, and your own practice. Open to all, with no commitment to certify — and if you decide to continue later, it counts as credit toward the full training. Nothing is lost.

What is TRE®?

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises — the body’s built-in mechanism for discharging stress.

TRE™ was developed by Dr. David Berceli from decades of work in trauma-affected communities worldwide. It uses a simple sequence of exercises to fatigue the deep postural muscles — particularly the psoas — and invite the body’s natural tremoring reflex to activate. Once the tremors begin, the nervous system does the rest.

Certified TRE™ Providers learn to guide that process safely and skillfully — recognizing what the tremor is doing, when to titrate, when to pause, and how to hold the space so the person’s own nervous system can find its way back to regulation.

Alex Greene

Alex Greene

TRE™ Certification Trainer · SEP · IFS · LMT · Feldenkrais® Practitioner · Boulder, Colorado

Alex is a TRE™ Certification Trainer, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, Internal Family Systems practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Feldenkrais® Practitioner. He is the founder of Red Beard Somatic Therapy and a co-founder of Neurogenic Integration.

He first met the neurogenic tremor response while living as a monk at a Zen monastery in the mountains outside Honolulu. Struggling with hip pain, his body began to spontaneously tremor during a Structural Integration session — and he stood up feeling lighter and freer than he had in years.

He now teaches around the world — physicians in China, bodyworkers in Japan, psychotherapists in Kenya, frontline medical workers across U.S. hospital systems, and most recently firefighters at FDNY in New York. He lives in Boulder, Colorado at the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park with his wife and daughter.

Not sure the October cohort is right for you?

That’s exactly what this hour is for. Applications close 4 October 2026, and Module 1 runs 14–16 October. Come with your questions for Alex — about the modules, the mentorship, the time commitment, or whether now is the right moment.
